HVAC career success for technicians

HVAC career success for technicians is important for morale and measuring KPIs. What better time than January to kick off a few personal career goals? It’s a time for reflecting on what you can do better.

Ask yourself or your technicians these questions when determining HVAC technician career goals:

Do I need NATE certification?

NATE certification says “well-qualified to handle my HVAC needs.” It benefits your personal career, the company you work for, and the customers you contact. Ready for the test? Find a testing center here. Already certified? Maintain NATE certification with some online courses.

What sets me apart from the other technicians?

Do you just do the job and leave, or do you troubleshoot, ask questions, and listen to customer needs? Do you participate in company initiatives and aim high in your professional development? These are all qualities of an HVAC technician who will be promoted.

Am I diligent about every call?

Create a proactive technician checklist for every call:

  • Ask the customer about additional needs.
  • Wear foot covers.
  • Keep records on each home or business’ history.

I am currently an HVAC technician at Titanic Controls and can tell you that it is valuable to have your NATE certification.

I love working on HVAC systems, I have a few certification and I am always learning more, if that means going to the community college at night I will do that, I have taken a few classes just so I can keep up to date with the new systems that come out!
